fun with political cartoons

It’s Friday. It’s fluff. Walk with me, won’t you? Back in the day when I taught high school English and journalism I loved using political cartoons in all sorts of assignments. Later, when I developed workshops for teachers, I found a nifty Web site that features great political cartoons by date and subject area. Cagle.com features dailies, hot topics and cartoonists from around the country and around the world. For a real eye-opener, choose a topic and compare what artists are making of it in, say, Atlanta, Montreal, Sydney, Sofia, and Riyadh. Locally, of course, there is the H-L‘s own Joel Pett: http://www.kentucky.com/594. I also recommend Borgman (Cincinnati Enquirer): http://borgman.enquirer.com/.
