free stuff from the government (seriously)

When you are an educator, finding quality free stuff can be a life-saver. Sometimes it can be closely guarded secret. You don’t want all your free stuff snapped up before you can gets yours. Here are two sites our government provides for free educational materials. The first one is all online, so share it with all your friends; the second has many limited-run printed materials, so share with care. 😉

1. FREE: Federal Resources for Excellence in Education. These are websites that support K-20 and lifelong learning in many different subject areas. FREE does not distinguish items by grade level; rather, it gives subject areas and descriptions. Many sites can be applied to multiple levels of education and areas of interest. http://free.ed.gov/

2. Ed.Pubs: Not everything on this site is free, but if it isn’t free it’s often a bargain. When I taught high school, I snagged everything from Banned Books Week posters to bookmarks to assessment guides to grant applications. There are times when the offerings are much less exciting than others, but it’s a good resource. http://edpubs.ed.gov/
