tutorials: web conferencing and instant messaging

Blue 2.0 now offers tutorials for Web conferencing and instant messaging that are available free of charge to UK faculty, staff and students who have Link Blue accounts.

First, try OCS (Office Communicator), which links you up with others on campusOCS and on a growing list of affiliated sites (such as WKU, KCTCS, IU, Vanderbilt and others). Just download, run setup, and soon you’ll be IM’ing colleagues and friends … in TASC we keep OCS running so that you can find help when you need it quickly.

In Web conferencing, UK IT offers Live Meeting for all of the University community. It integrates with OCS and your Outlook elivemeetingmail. Unlike OCS, though, which serves both Windows and Mac platforms, Live Meeting is (for now) only available to Windows users. Faculty who need a Web conferencing alternative may contact TASC for access to Adobe Connect Pro, which is also covered in the tutorial.
