March workshops

TASC’s March workshops for instructors include Google Tools, Turning Point, Second Life, Video Conferencing and more. More information and registration information may be found at http://www.uky.edu/TASC/ (click on Calendar in the column at right on the page).

Coming up this month (two dates indicate the same workshop offered twice):

  • Web 2.0 (Google Tools) – 2-3:30pm on March 5 and March 9, both in WTYL B108a. A hands-on opportunity to explore several Google tools, including blogs, wikis, Google Earth, and YouTube captioning. Take-aways for self-guided tutorials in other Web-based collaboration and communication tools. Space is limited; register by emailing pcarr3@uky.edu and referencing the workshop name and date.
  • Blackboard Assignments – 2-4pm on March 5 in CON 6th floor computing lab. Learn to use the Assignments feature in Blackboard. Register by emailing your name, workshop title, and workshop date to bb-training@uky.edu.
  • Turning Point Audience Response System – 3pm workshop and 4pm independent work session on March 8; 9am workshop and 9:30am workshop and 10:30am independent work session on March 9. TurningPoint Workshop – Learn to use an audience response system to gauge learner understanding, increase class participation, and more. Please RSVP with date of workshop to turningpoint@lsv.uky.edu.
  • Second Life – 2-3:30pm on March 11 (WTYL B-25). Learn more about Second Life and create your own avatar to begin exploring this virtual reality environment. Beginners are welcome. Limited seating. To register, email pcarr3@uky.edu and reference the workshop name and date.
  • Connect Pro Desktop Video Conferencing – 9-10:30am on March 15 and March 25 in POT 1506. This is a hands-on introductory session on Adobe Connect Pro video conferencing. Contact Erskine Clinton at erskine@uky.edu to inquire about registration (be sure to mention the date desired). Space is limited; this workshop may fill quickly.
  • Podcasting & Video – 2-3:30pm on March 23 and March 26, both in White Hall Classroom Building 319. A brief introduction to podcasting options (2-2:30pm) followed by a demonstration of video capture, editing and uploading (2:30-3:30pm). Limited seating; to register, email pcarr3@uky.edu and reference the workshop name title and date.
