Microsoft Lync app

For those who use Microsoft Lync, at University of Kentucy or elsewhere, there’s a new (free) app for that – an iPad app, iPhone app, Windows Phone app, Android app, and Nokia Symbian app. Lync is a business app and requires a Lync server or Office365/Lync Online account to work.

I have tried it out on the iPad, and it’s easy to use.  Once you load the app and sign in, your contacts list (from your existing Lync account) will be populated. Give it several seconds to update everyone’s status, and you are good to go.

Lync is an instant messaging/instant meeting (audio/video/screensharing) tool that is available to all faculty, staff and students at UKy. Users can add contacts from “affiliated” companies and chat applications. UKy users can download Lync on the UKy download page and can find support at the Lync Wiki.
